Terp Law P.C. Obtains Preliminary Approval of Class Action Settlement Against County of Alameda.

In Loera, et al. v. County of Alameda, et al., Case No. 3:23-cv-00792-LB (N.D. Cal.), Plaintiffs - current and former hourly security workers called Sheriffs Safety Aides - challenge their employer County of Alameda's failure to pay them for off-the-clock work performed before and after their scheduled shifts. The County agreed to settle the claims of roughly 85 class and collective members for $650,000 following remedial changes to the disputed practices. On April 23, 2026, Hon. Laurel Beeler granted preliminary approval of the settlement and provisionally appointed Rachel Terp of Terp Law P.C. and Sharon Vinick of Vinick Hyams LLP as Class Counsel. Notice will issue to the Class and a Fairness Hearing is scheduled for October 1, 2026. For more about the case, visit the SSA Collective Action page.
